Due to amendments introduced to the Credit Institution Law, RIB is gradually adapting the use of languages in its services, documents, digital solutions and other customer communication channels.
The new regulation provides for that customers in Latvia have the right to receive financial services provided by credit institutions in Latvian. This applies also to the documents prepared for the provision of financial services, digital content interfaces and language selection options in technical solutions such as the app, website, phone communication and in-person service.
If the customer agrees and the Bank is capable to ensure the respective language, financial services might be provided also in the official language of the European Union Member State or candidate country.
To ensure compliance with the new requirements, RIB is introducing changes gradually, until September 30, 2026; in some channels of the Bank, they can be seen already before the said date. During this period, the availability of languages on the Bank’s home page, in the Internet Banking system and Mobile App, documents and materials intended for customers, as well as in other service and communication channels will change. After the expiry of the transition period, the Russian language will no longer be available as an option in the Bank’s digital interfaces, documents and other materials intended for customers.
Individual communication with customers
Maintaining an individual approach to customer service is important to us, as we recognize that financial services can often be a complex subject. Therefore, during individual interactions, we will strive to provide consultations in any other language mutually acceptable to both parties, should the need arise.
